ready for the greek islands!

Hey folks,
My family and I are going to our last vacation for this year. The destination is, the Greek Islands! We'll be on a ship for 5 days and hopefully get the chance to enjoy the beauty of the sea and the islands. I won't be able to post from the ship probably since there is no wireless, but it's written that there is an internet cafe and I'll take a look at it and see whether I can keep you updated or not. I'll post the pictures as soon as I come back anyway. So, take care y'all! Have a lovely week.

Do you have anything planned for this week?

JUST WHAT I NEEDED  Today was truly and fully amazing. My best friends Esin, Mehveş, Deniz and I went to a cool shopping center called Palladium and had a great time together. We first ate our lunch at Kitchenette, I ordered the best cheeseburger I ever tasted. After that, we just hanged around, went into a couple of stores, made a complete fool out of ourselves -check the photo above and you'll know what I'm talking about!- and laughed all the time. Being with friends is always fun for me, but with these guys, it's even better, trust me.

Esin and Deniz came over at my place after the day, Mehveş couldn't because she was supposed to study Chemistry. My mom cooked us dinner and we played backgammon and listened to music. We didn't do anything special actually, but being with them was truly magical. I love you guys!

Oh and PS: Esin is my class mate this year which I'm so so so happy about it!

How was your day?

did someone say school?

I'M FINALLY AN 11TH GRADE  Today I went to my school to get my new books and complete the payments for my bus and lunch. I'm offically an 11th grade from now on which means I've got only 2 more years to university. The sacks above contain 14 books which I'm going to carry during this school year. Looks like I'll be doing a lot of reading this year.

My school will start on the 7th of September, which is Wednesday, and I still haven't got why the hell my school starts on Wednesday instead of Monday. It will end on the 15th of June I suppose.

My books don't look so painfull actually, it's only because I haven't recieved my maths book yet. The book is called "Pure Maths", com'on guys, I don't even understand the simple math and now I'm supposed to learn the "pure" version of it. Lovely. Anyways, I'm a Non-IB, literature student, which means I'm going to see Turkish Literature and Language, Maths, Geometry, TOK, Geography, German, English, Sociology, Religion, PE and some other boring courses. I hope this year will be good unlike the previous one, I hate 10th grade. I used to see Biology and absolutely loved it, but I have to focus more on my grades than what I like, so I had to quit Biology. I will get the Biology book from a friend when the school starts and study it in my free time.

I'm sorry for my post about school since it's really boring and all, but because it's both an essencial and a major part of my life, I had to talk about it.

How do you feel about school being just around the corner?

cunda -the last day

WATCHING THE SUNSET  This is our final day here in Cunda so we decided to hit to the city and have an amazing last meal. This was another windy day, so the day went pretty boring since we couldn't swim and stay outside. The dinner went really great though, I always enjoy spending my time with my family, I feel very comfortable around them. Our meal was delicious and it was completed with the beautiful view of the sea and the sunset. I always loved to watch the sea, it makes me relaxed and peacefull. It was only better with the sunset, the beautiful colors of blue, orange, yellow and red.

Our last day couldn't be any better, it turned out a lot more fun than I expected. I will miss Cunda, especially it's sea and ice-creams but I can definietly go without it's windy weather.

Oh, and I almost forgot, I ran into an old friend from my school. It had been almost 3 years since the last time I saw him and it was really great to see him. I love spontaneous and unexpected things, though sometimes they can be a bit weird I must admit.

How is your summer going?

cunda -day 3

ŞEYTAN SOFRASI  I've got only 3 days left until I go back to Istanbul. I miss everyone so much, I have to finish my books for school and do the final things before my school starts.

Today, my family and I went to a beautiful place called Şeytan Sofrası. We went there to watch the sunset, the view was absolutely breath taking. After taking some photos and enjoying our teas, we hit back to our hotel. The food here is delicious!

Today was the last day of Irmak being in Cunda, so we went to the downtown to look at some jewelry shops. After hanging out for 2 hours, I went back to my hotel. I have to sleep now, guys. Take care.

How is your summer going?

cunda -day 2

HOT  Today was hotter than yesterday, at least it wasn't windy. Irmak and I enjoyed the sun and then the cool sea. I even saw a huge crab only a few centimetres away from me, that was scary I must say. This was the first time that I got scared of the sea. It is full of mystery and treasures indeed, but it is also full of threats and evil creatures.

Irmak left today, which means my time here is going to be a bit boring from now on, but I will definietly make the most of it. This is truly a beautiful place to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet, so I have to enjoy it as much as I can since my school is going to start in less than 3 weeks. Have a great Monday y'all!

cunda -day 1

SUN  I'm in a beautiful place right now, Cunda. The sea is very relaxing and refreshing. After the whole EYP stress and the sadness caused by it, I'm happy to take a break from everything. I turned off my phone too so that I can really focus on what I need, read some books and enjoy the sun as much as I can. Luckily, a close friend of mine from school is here too, and she's going to stay with us until tomorrow. I really missed Irmak and I'm glad she is here with me so that I won't get bored to be with my family.

Enjoy the summer folks, school is just around the corner!

eyp españa -day eight

THE LAST DAY  After an amazing week with the kindest people I know, the burden feeling of the last day was all around us. We wanted to make the most of it of course, but I couldn't help myself to cry, and I wasn't the only one. After the GA, the ending ceremony started where speeches were made and believe me, they weren't very happy. It was okay until everyone gathered in a circle and the song "Imagine" started. It's a tradition that at the end of each EYP, people sing along this song. But this was my first that I cried.

After the GA finished, we went to our accommodations and packed our stuff. After that, we went to the "Farewell Party" which took place at a cute bar. Everyone danced for the final time and of course, I cried again. It was really hard to face the fact that I won't be able to see my friends again. Near the end, I slept at the couch because I was too tired...

I really miss one and each and I hope they are okay now. I also hope that they will have an amazing life!

libe 1 -the best committee ever

From left to right: Daorsa Teslica (Belgium), David Teruel Cano (Spain), Jannik Reinders (Germany), Dragoş Badau (Romania), Carolina Comis (Italy), Eda Güler (Turkey), Iwana Mietus (Netherlands), Triantafyllos Kouloufakos (aka. Phill) (Greece), Francisco Tho Monteiro (Portugal), Christopher Lösbrock (Germany).

AMAZING, MAGICAL AND FUN  I can't even begin describing how much I love Libe I. Not only because I can't find any word to describe how I feel but also because of so many other reasons. For once, I felt like I belonged to a group, I'm always shy and quiet but this time was a bit different. I talked every second and enjoyed my time there. We were truly connected and our friendship is beyond the session. It still continues and will continue no matter how many years will pass. Anyways, I'll just shut up and let the photos do the talking for me.

eyp españa -day seven

GENERAL ASSEMBLY  It was time for the committees to take the stage and talk about their resolutions that they've been working for the last couple of days. It was full of frustration indeed but it was also amazing to work as a committee and get the chance to defend your ideas. Our resolution didn't pass unfortunately, but it didn't mean that we failed. It actually ment the opposite, we won as a committee because even our resolution failed, we still kept our smiling faces and our spirit at the maximum level.

After the GA, we went to a restaurant to eat our lunch and took a photo just for the "ass-hole chair" Andris, the one that I mentioned in my previous post. Here is the photo, my face says it all.

After the lunch, we went back to the building where the GA took place and after 3 more committees, the GA was done and we went to another building where the Euroconcert took place. So many talented people performed their talents with singing or dancing, it was truly amazing.

eyp españa -day six

LA COSTA BRAVA  This day was pretty relaxed and calm compared to what we experienced in the past few days. We took a break from all the committee work and hit to the beach. Unfortunately, the weather was extremely bad, it was rainy and cold so we couldn't enjoy the sea as we planned. Still, we played cards on the beach and swam a bit. Also, some random guys were digging a hole for fun and asked if I would want to get in. When I did, they started to put all the sand on me and so I wasn't able to move for quite some time. When I got out of the hole, I was all covered with sand so I had to swim again.

When we arrived to our accommodations, the GA preparation took place. Here, our two chairs; Alison and Panayiotis asked whether we wanted to have a role at the GA or not. I was selected to answer the questions but couldn't because they gave us only 3 rounds and I was assigned for the 4th one. Anyways, the day continued with the scavenger hunt. In the scavenger hunt, we were supposed to toss a coin in to the river and make a committee wish. We wished that we would continue talking after the session ends. After the wish, we were supposed to make a human pyramid which was rather hard for me since I was wearing a skirt. The scavenger hunt continued with the assignment of hugging as much random people as possible. Our journey finished at a beautiful restaurant where we enjoyed our lovely committee dinner.

After these, we went to a cute little club and had fun.

eyp españa -day five

LAST DAY OF COMMITTEE WORK  We finished our resolution and typed it. Then a chair from another committee came to our room to look at our resolution and make suggestion. He said it sucked, literally. And he was right. We wrote our solutions only from our perspectives but the point was to put ourselves in their shoes and think why they didn't want to fit in society. We then made our changes and did the final touch. Our motivation was really down that day thanks to Andris, the "ass-hole" chair. Sorry for my bad vocabulary, but I can't describe him in different words.

After our committee work, we hit to the pool and relaxed for an hour. At the end of the day, we had another party that had a theme of Cowboys and Indians. Because I didn't have a costume like the majority had, I showed up with a regular shirt. We danced non-stop for 4 hours and I was dying at the end, it was worth it all anyway.

eyp españa -day four

COMMITTEE WORK  First day of committee work couldn't be any better. Committee works suck most of the time, cause all you do is just sit on a chair all day long and talk about facts and problems about your topic. The first day, you feel like you're brain is going to explode cause after two days of fun in team building, you're forced to keep your face serious throughout the day. This day however was different than the normal. As a committee, we worked really quick and found solutions rather easy. We had time to play some more games and talk about random stuff. It was sure an amazing period of time for me and for them too. Every one was always wearing their smiles on their faces, precious view I must tell. The day finished with the Iberian Party which took place at a great bar that located in the middle of the woods. Unfortunately I don't have any photos from the party.

Oh how I miss Libe I...

TEAM BUILDING -AGAIN  The day started with another ceremony and continued with an amazing schedule. This day was rather energetic and fun than the previous one. The atmosphere was a bit warmer and we got used to each other more and more. This day was full of games too, it was another day of team bulding after all. We got our first committee photo!

The day ended with the country presentations where each delegation came up to the stage and presented their countries as they wanted. Because none of us did anything -I mean the Turkey delegation-, we came up the stage and danced our traditional dance called Misket Havası. It ended fun since so many people from different countries joined our dance on stage...

eyp españa -day two

TEAM BUILDING I remember how I woke up this day and I'm pretty positive that I won't ever forget it. It started with the ringing on our bell and then continued with the shouting: "wake up call". I was on the edge of my bed and was about to fall down from my bed, literally. I thought this would suck, the whole EYP thing; I wasn't very pleased with my first day and my room and I was in a pessimistic mood. When I walked downstairs to the dining room, there were 50 strangers, eating quietly, looking around. I didn't have a clue that 10 of them were going to be my family then. I ate my breakfast which was half of a bread and some cheese. I wasn't feeling so good to eat a proper breakfast.

After that, they took us to an auditorium and the opening ceremony started. I was faced with 150 strangers there, making my way to sit with my Turk friends. I was thinking that my experience here would continue like this, boring. I always prepare myself for the worst, but I didn't expect something like this, it was totally magical and fun and lively. We then, gathered in a gym, everyone was sitting with their countries' delegations, looking around for a familiar face. Then the country presentations took place, each of the delegations were supposed to sing a song from their countries for 2 minutes. We chose to sing "Şımarık" by Tarkan. And after the presentations were finished, the hard part began, going to our committees.

9 strangers looking at one face to another, a bit weird but mostly shy. We played games and made a complete fool of ourselves for two days, the first day was rather calm and quiet compared to the next day since this was the first time that we were spending time together. We first played two rounds of a name game, I suck at remembering almost everything but I'm worst when it comes to names. I couldn't remember any names, they were all very difficult since everyone was from other countries and I wasn't familiar with their names, not even a bit. At the end of the day, there was this thing called "Eurovilliage" where every country presented their foods with the others. It was awkward how Greece and Turkey brought the same food, they even brought Turkish Delight, TURKISH guys, com'on! Anyways, my favorite kitchen was probably Romania with their amazing cheese and wine. Seriously, the best wine ever. We presented our foods with our belly dance, crazy huh? I know.

So, the first day basically was all about the games for the sake to create a warmer atmosphere. I was the youngest delegate, probably the most energetic one. Although I didn't talk that much, my feelings from the morning changed into the thought that, this experience wouldn't suck that much.

eyp españa -day one

GIRONA  As you may noticed, I wasn't blogging for a week. My absence was due to the fact that I was in Spain, Girona to me specific, working with a bunch of amazing people to find solutions to the problem: "With 20% of the young population being at the risk of poverty, how should the EU tackle the issue of socially marginalised juveniles in order to guarantee equal rights and social stability." After working for 2 days, we found the most efficient solutions that we could come up with, but our resolution didn't pass in the General Assembly where every committee gets the chance to share their ideas and present their resolutions. It was of course sad that our resolution failed and it decreased our motivation as well but it didn't effect the fact that we were connected, despite the borders and miles, we were a family. We were basically 10 people, working at a problem but the picture was more deep than that. We shared our lives, personalities, thoughts and fears with each other while enjoying every single second of our time together. This was surely my greatest EYP experience and it's all because of my lovely committee friends. I will talk more about them in my following posts, but let me first tell you about my first day in Spain.

As the Turkey delegation, our plain arrived to Barcelona airport and we were supposed to take the bus and train to make our way to Girona. It was a hard process indeed since non of us spoke Spanish and most of the people didn't know English. So, we used the most common and possibly the most important language in the world: Body Language. We got lost a couple of times due to these obstacles and after traveling for 7 hours, we were finally at our accomadations, in Campus de Montilivi. There were basically two rooms, a single room where you're assigned to a roommate and a double room where you can stay by yourself. Because the single rooms didn't have any space to breath, I chose to get a double room where there were more space and freedom. The campus was designed as apartments, all apartments had a living room at the first floor and then four rooms upstairs. I loved my apartment-mates as well, one boy from Finland, a girl from Austria and another one from another country that I can't remember now. I suck when it comes to memorization.

After settling down to our rooms, it was too late for us to have our dinner at Montivili so we went outside and discovered the beautiful, quite and mysterious city, Girona. We then, found a small restaurant and had our meals. Then we went straight to the bed.
